THE NETWORKÂ
By working more together we can achieve more, reach our goals faster and do it in a more efficient way.Â
The Nordic Journey is a network of destinations across the "Greater Nordics", all the way from Newfoundland in the West, across the Atlantic including the North Atlantic Islands, Scotland, Scandinavia and the Baltic Countries.
We all face similar weather conditions, environment, impact of climate change and mentality. Collaboration between destinations in these regions therefore makes perfect sense.
Facilitator of the network is Hjortur Smarason, founder of Saltworks ehf. and former CEO of Visit Greenland.

It's Good Business
Sustainability isn’t a buzz word, it is not a charity, it is not fluff. Sustainability is vital to economic prosperity of a destination and a strategy that is based on sustainability and regenerative tourism, is much more likely to leave more money with the local communities, lower running costs, decrease wear and tear and increase profits for all stakeholders. It is also more likely to create job opportunities for locals, support spin off industries and even reverse the brain drain in rural communities and bring back some of the youth lost to the cities.
Waiting for others to figure out how, is bad business. The competitive advantage of the relatively expensive Nordics lies in the combination of sustainability and credibility.
